3D Printed Microreactors for the Continuous Non?Kolbe Electrolysis

نویسندگان

چکیده

In the renaissance of organic electrochemistry, 150-year-old Kolbe chemistry offers a sustainable pathway to liquid energy carriers and commodities. Herein, easy-access design methods for electrochemical microreactors employing 3D printing simple post processing techniques are presented. The continuous Non-Kolbe electrolysis monomethyl succinic acid is studied as test reaction production an industrially relevant, green monomer. semi-batch setup, methyl acrylate produced with maximum yield 34 %, similar results from thoroughly optimized batch in prior study. single-pass experiments, comparable faradaic efficiency 54 % achieved.

3D-printed devices for continuous-flow organic chemistry

We present a study in which the versatility of 3D-printing is combined with the processing advantages of flow chemistry for the synthesis of organic compounds. Robust and inexpensive 3D-printed reactionware devices are easily connected using standard fittings resulting in complex, custom-made flow systems, including multiple reactors in a series with in-line, real-time analysis using an ATR-IR ...

3D Printed Bionic Ears

The ability to three-dimensionally interweave biological tissue with functional electronics could enable the creation of bionic organs possessing enhanced functionalities over their human counterparts. Conventional electronic devices are inherently two-dimensional, preventing seamless multidimensional integration with synthetic biology, as the processes and materials are very different. Here, w...

Projector-Based Textures for 3D-Printed Models

The now widely available 3D-printing technology enables structural molecular biologists to easily produce tangible models of large and complex molecules, which can aid them in understanding their spatial structure. Those models, however, are static and often monochrome, therefore their information content cannot compete with existing screenbased visualization solutions. Following the paradigm o...

3D Printed Stencils for Texturing Flat Surfaces

We address the problem of texturing flat surfaces by spray-painting through 3D printed stencils. We propose a system that (1) decomposes an image into alpha-blended layers; (2) computes a stippling given a transparency channel; (3) generates a 3D printed stencil given a stippling and (4) simulates the effects of spray-painting through the stencil.
